To make sure everything works smoothly, it’s important that we connect your existing Xchart account instead of creating a new one during setup.

What we need from CareStack:

Please ask the CareStack team to provide:

  1. Your CareStack account ID

  2. An "account key" generated from that CareStack account

Once we have that, we can link your existing Xchart account to CareStack.

A few clarifications:

  • Your existing Xchart records won’t be lost or deleted.

  • However, existing patient records won’t automatically link.
For example, if you already have a patient named John Doe in Xchart, opening John Doe from CareStack will likely create a new, linked version of that patient in Xchart.

  • Xchart has a duplicate detection tool that uses name and date of birth to help identify potential duplicates.
But for CareStack and Xchart patient records to be automatically linked, the patient in Xchart must already have a CareStack ID stored in our system. Without that ID, we can’t be sure it’s the same patient.

  • User accounts can sometimes be linked during the handoff from CareStack.
If someone with an existing Xchart user account opens Xchart from CareStack, we’ll try to detect a possible match. If we think we’ve found one, we’ll prompt the user to log in and confirm the link between the CareStack user and the existing Xchart account.

Once everything is connected, you’ll be able to:

  • Launch directly from CareStack into your existing Xchart account

  • Search for and access your full history of patient records
