Some older computers and desktops don’t have built-in Bluetooth support. To use the Bluetooth adapters from Xchart, you need to ensure that your computer already has Bluetooth capabilities. The serial-to-Bluetooth devices we sell at Xchart do not include any hardware to add Bluetooth functionality to your computer if it lacks it.

Fortunately, this is usually easy to resolve. You can purchase a small, inexpensive device, like the one shown below, to add Bluetooth capabilities to a Windows PC. These adapters work as if your computer came with Bluetooth built-in.

Once plugged in, Windows will automatically recognize the adapter, allowing you to manage and connect to Bluetooth devices through the standard Windows Bluetooth settings.

At Xchart, we don’t have a specific adapter we’ve tested or recommend. However, a quick search on Amazon for "Bluetooth adapter for PC" will present several good options. For instance, something like this could work, though please note we haven't tested or officially endorsed any particular product. Any adapter that supports Bluetooth 2.0 or higher with EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) should work.
