The Mindray Passport V has two different SP (Serial Port) ports. on the back. You can user either one, but we're going to set up SP2 in this example. See diagram below:
Connecting via wired connection
Get necessary cable and adapter. You need a small "null modem" adapter like this (female / female version): https://amzn.to/3N9rfa1 AND a serial to USB cable like this: https://amzn.to/4efWDj0
Connect the null modem adapter to the SP2 port, then connect the serial to USB cable to that. Make sure connections are snug. (continue to steps below bluetooth explanation)
Connecting via bluetooth adapter
Order the bluetooth adapter you'll need by emailing us: [email protected]
For this monitor no other adapters are required. Simply attach the bluetooth adapter using the screws on it, to port SP1 or SP2. (Bluetooth baudrate should be set to 19200)
Once you've updated the "installation menu" (instructions below) you can follow the steps in this video to pair the Bluetooth adapter with the device you are working with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_U7a1Qvxsw
Updating monitor settings and connecting (apply to both bluetooth and wired connections):
Now we need to turn on port you connected to above using the monitor settings. To do that we need to access the hidden "Installation Menu".
Turn off the monitor.
Push and keep holding down the "Discharge" button on the front of the monitor and turn the monitor back on (while still holding the discharge button).
The "installation menu" should appear.
On the installation menu find "Serial Port 2" or "Serial Port 1" depending on what you connected to above and set it to "DIAP"
Next, select "Advanced Installation Setup" and set Baud Rate to "19200"
Select "previous menu" at the top left.
Select "Save Current" at the top left and confirm that you want to save.
Now turn off the monitor and start it as you normally would. The monitor should now be ready to connect to Xchart. At this point you can follow the instructions from the last part of the Passport video we have on youtube: https://youtu.be/WXWdlAEpuEY?t=50
Here's what the installation menu looks like on the Passport V
TO TEST THE CONNECTION WITH XCHART:
Login to your dashboard at Xchart.com OR in the web browser go to xchart.com/test (this will take you straight to step 4)
Select the settings wheel in the upper right corner.
Select "test monitor connection"
You'll get a pop-up reminding you this is a fake case and no data will be saved. You can select the "I understand, let me at it!" button
Once in the fake chart you can test the connection from either of the 2 "connect vitals monitor" buttons. One will ALWAYS be displayed at the top of the screen for you to easily access, but it will also be under the monitor set up page.
Select the monitor you are trying to connect with Xchart. For the Mindray Passport V you would select Mindray (serial port)
Select "show connection selector"
Select the correct connection. A good hint to know if your cable is being displayed in this box is by unplugging it from the computer you are working on. If an option in the box disappears and then reappears once plugged back in, that is the option you want to select.
NOTE: If you DO NOT have anything appear in the connection selector box you may need to download a driver onto your computer. This process can be done by following these steps, it's usually the prolific driver: https://help.xchart.com/en/articles/9189747-install-prolific-driver-windows
**if connecting via our Bluetooth adapter you would select the SD1000
Select "use this connection"
Once back to the patients chart it should now have the blue bar displayed across the screen. This bar is a good indicator letting you know you are connected to a vitals monitor and vitals are coming in automatically. If you do not have a blue bar across the top of the chart you are NOT connected to a monitor and live vitals are NOT coming in automatically.
