When you first open a new case in the case editor the big bar at the top of the screen will be a gray color. We call this the "Status Bar" because it indicates the most relevant data and explicitly indicates a "Status" text for the case.
First the "Status" says "Pre-op" and the bar is gray:
Then when you've completed all the pre-op questions it will change to "Ready for vitals":
Light blue bar
This indicates that you have an active monitor connection. It also shows you the very latest data we've received from your monitor:
Green status bar
Indicates:
Case is in progress
Every checkpoint up until this point has completed vitals data
Pre-op steps are all completed
Every vital type selected on the "Monitor Setup" page is accounted for in the most recent vitals checkpoint.
Actions to take:
Nothing is required, just keep recording any drug doses that are given.
Red status bar
Indicates:
Case is in progress
The most recent vitals checkpoint is missing vitals data of some kind.
Action to take:
Read the "Status" text to see what is missing from the latest checkpoint or just jump straight to the "Vitals" page to see and complete the latest checkpoint.
Frequently the thing that is missing is the "ECG Rhythm". In that case, go to the first vitals checkpoint and make sure the rhythm is set and saved. To better understand how ECG Rhythms work in Xchart you can read our article about that.
Orange status bar
Indicates:
Case is in progress
We have all the selected vitals for the latest checkpoint
But, something else is missing indicated by "Status" text.
Action to take:
Read the "Status" text and address what is missing. It could be previous incomplete vitals checkpoints or pre-op steps thare are incomplete.
This scenario is generally less urgent, the monitor is now connected and recording vitals and was able to complete the most recent checkpoint.
