To use Xchart successfully, offices need to ensure the following:

  1. A Computer in the Operatory Running Modern Chrome Browser on Desktop
Use an up-to-date version of Google Chrome. Do not disable any built-in features—Xchart relies heavily on the WebSerial API, which is enabled by default in Chrome. This computer can be running Windows or Mac or Chrome OS. This computer should have sufficient memory and processing power to run a moderately complex web application. Most computers made in the last 10 years will be just fine.

  2. Unrestricted Access to Xchart Domain
Make sure your network does not block traffic to:

    • xchart.com

    • Any subdomain of Xchart (e.g., case.xchart.com, manager.xchart.com, api.xchart.com, or any other subdomain).

  3. Prolific PL2303 USB Driver
The computer must either already have, or be able to install, the Prolific PL2303 driver:
Download here for Windows or see this article for Mac instructions.
This allows your computer to recognize the USB cable connected to the patient monitor.

  4. Correct Date & Time Settings
Xchart requires your computer’s system clock to be accurate. During login, we check that your local time matches our server time within a safe margin. This is especially important for offline functionality. The best way to do this is to configure the computer to synchronize its time automatically.

  5. iPad Usage Notes
iPads cannot be used to connect to monitors, but they can still be used to access xchart.com via Safari for manual data entry.

    • iPadOS 17 or later is required

    • JavaScript must be enabled
